About Us

DUCHY Companionship CARE is run by Alexandra Reah. She and her family have a long and reputable history within the care sector, with a combined experience of nearly 100 years running bespoke nursing homes, and providing ahead of their time facilities and luxury care to older people. Alexandra is now running a private companionship care agency providing a flexible, high end service to help older people maintain their independence in their home by offering every day support.
DUCHY CARE provides high end companionship care, with the main purpose of enabling older people not only to maintain their independence within their home, but to enjoy doing the pleasurable activities that make life worthwhile, with the support provided.

What is Companionship Care?

Companionship care helps the social and emotional well-being of those who would otherwise feel isolated or lonely, while easing some of the burden from family members.

In the UK, loneliness affects a lot of people, and it’s especially common among persons over 65. Home care is misunderstood by many individuals, who believe it is only necessary when a relative falls, returns home from the hospital, or is not feeling well. Nowadays, home care providers are contacted more frequently and earlier in life as a result of the rising rates of loneliness among older people.

DEDICATED TO YOUR INDEPENDENCE

Services

DUCHY Companionship CARE provides conversation, a listening ear, someone to share experiences with, including hobbies: discussing a book or a TV series, playing chess, taking a stroll in the park or going shopping, attending social gatherings, the theatre, the movies, or simply putting the world to right over a cup of tea. If required, a companion carer would also do some housework and prepare meals.

Our Philosophy

The last few years have seen people increasingly more isolated, which has a serious impact on both physical and mental health, seriously affecting one’s quality of life. DUCHY Companionship CARE offers a friendly face and support for you and your every day requirements: whether it be help around the house or the confidence to get out; a walk; a trip to the shops; lunch; a chaperone for hospital appointments,  we can be there for you.

DUCHY Companionship CARE strives to protect the individual’s independence, dignity and freedom by building a relationship of reliability , continuity and friendship.

Our Team

We offer companionship care with warmth, integrity, insightfulness and a sense of positivity and humour.

Every member of our team is thoroughly checked (DBS), has experience in this sector with references and, more importantly, a genuine love for their work.

ALEXANDRA REAH/founder

I have lived in Yorkshire all my life, I have raised my family in Harrogate.  Alongside a passion for photography, care has always been a love of mine and I have over 30 years experience in care for the elderly.

The advice my father gave me at the start of my career in care “Look after people like you would your own mum and dad” has stayed with me and shaped my ethos, and it has now become the foundation of DUCHY Companionship CARE.

Testimonials

Thank you for all you did for Dad – he loved you and I know he valued your friendship and support. There aren’t many people who he spoke of in this way so take that as a massive compliment!!!

Claire M.

Thanks for all you do for Mum to make her life wonderful. ❤

Hugh G.

Alex and her team are doing an amazing job of looking after our Mum, as she is now living on her own with Alzheimer’s.  We never thought this would be possible, but with the loving, reliable, professional companionship provided by Duchy Care, it is.  We feel so lucky to have found Duchy Care.  The alternative would have been sheltered accommodation or even a care home.  We are not sure that Mum would have thrived in that environment. Maintaining Mum’s independence in this way is helping her live a happier, fulfilling life in her own home.
